The Despicable Contemptable Dishonest Act of James Gomez!

Yes I read George Yeo's view of the incident and I'm TOTALLY DISGUSTED and DISAPPOINTED with James Gomez. What kind of a person is this?! How can he do such a dishonest act?! Shameless, shameless....

Yes, I believe all the PAP has said - he is trying to frame the Elections Dept. He is trying to frame them for losing a form. This is really horrible, and damaging to the ENTIRE country if an application form is lost. It would have ruin our reputation for efficiency - this act of framing is most certainly illegal although losing the form is not.

The other day I stood near a dustbin, someone came to throw an empty paper cup but he didn't aim properly, the paper cup fell next to me. I think this guy didn't like my face and is trying to frame me for littering. This is terrible, anyone passing by might have thought that I littered and my reputation would have been damaged. If a policeman passed by he might have cited me for a criminal offense of littering - in my entire life I've never broken the law. Framing a criminal offense that cannot be condoned in Singapore.

Did anyone try to frame you today?!

Acording to the PAP, Gomez would have claimed that the Elections Department deliberately lost his form and he would have accused the ED of colluding with the PAP to deprive him of his Indian Minority Certificate....which....he did not require to contest in Aljunied GRC (Aljunied GRC requires a Malay candidate)!

The WP has declared that Gomez was never considered for contesting Ang Mo Kio GRC which requires an Indian Minority. This explanation makes PERFECT SENSE: it would be highly unlikely for Gomez to enter parliament by defeating PM LHL in AMK GRC. Furthermore, the WP team fielded in AMK GRC is obviously the weakest WP team with the least chance of winning. So I believe that all along, Gomez planned to contest ALjunied GRC (Gomez has been courting Aljunied since 2001) where he, along with the strongest WP team, would stand the best chance of winning.

This begs the question: Why did Gomez bother to apply for an Indian Minority Cert? I think Gomez really wanted to keep PAP guessing whether he was going to lead the WP in AMK GRC. It was a 'wayang' for the media and the PAP so as to hamper their preparation for the election. There is nothing wrong with a bit of deception to keep your enemy guessing what your strategy is.

The real question is: Do you believe Gomez honestly forgot that he did not submit the form due to too much distraction?

Do you believe that Gomez would have FRAMED the PAP and Elections Department for losing his form? Who started the media controversy and started the name calling?

Like Lucky Tan pointed out, what would Gomez have gained out of accusing the Election Department? Even if he was going to accuse them, who had the immense resources to convince the public otherwise? Did Gomez really expect to get away with framing the ED in such a closely monitored environment with all the CCTV cameras which PAP claims Gomez was not aware of? Every wise opposition politician knows that the ISD monitors your every move, especially during elections!

There is a lot of speculative "Gomez-would-have-accused-PAP/Elections Department" accusations being made by the PAP. The PAP has an excuse to attack Gomez because of the lack of indepedence of the Elections Department. Slyvia Lim is right: the Elections Department should be a neutral and independent office and not under the direct control of the PAP. Why must everything in Singapore, from the LTA (fixing flooded roads) to the Election Departments be linked to the PAP?

All this is very distasteful and not becoming of a first world government.

The application form is a small matter, what matters most is the INTEGRITY of the elections process. We all know that integrity is highly valued in our society; people actually go bankrupt because of the lack of it. This is why we cannot have Gomez in parliament (it's really worrying based on the constant reports on TV- it seems that the PAP is seriously contemplating and fearful of a parliament with such dishonest candidates), though I doubt Gomez is going to win a seat in parliament because we Singaporeans will never vote for dishonest candidates. Since the PAP have said that Gomez is a liar, he must be one. All people who aspire to be politicians must be impeccable- they never tell lies, or break the law e.g. getting into a traffic accident or speaking in public without a permit.

I have always felt privileged to be a Singaporean, we are so lucky to enjoy first world standards at first class rates. We make a decent living with a salary of $1-2K a month, and are served by capable ministers who are paid approximately $1m per annum- a reflection of their quality (something that is gravely lacking in the opposition candidates). Which country in this world actually boasts such highly paid and capable ministers who are able to identify and focus on key issues like honesty and integrity, whilst the commoners are more concerned with unimportant issues like cost of living, upgrading programmes and healthcare. We need more of these self sacrificing individuals in the government to point us in the right direction, not dishonest people like Gomez.

"Repression, Sir is a habit that grows. I am told it is like making love-it is always easier the second time! The first time there may be pangs of conscience, a sense of guilt. But once embarked on this course with constant repetition you get more and more brazen in the attack.

All you have to do is to dissolve organizations and societies and banish and detain the key political workers in these societies. Then miraculously everything is tranquil on the surface.

Then an intimidated press and the government-controlled radio together can regularly sing your praises, and slowly and steadily the people are made to forget the evil things that have already been done, or if these things are referred to again they're conveniently distorted and distorted with impunity, because there will be no opposition to contradict."

- Lee Kuan Yew as an opposition PAP member speaking to David Marshall, Singapore Legislative Assembly, Debates, 4 October, 1956

I have a classmate in school, he insisted that he had handed in his workbook to his teacher. The teacher checked and confirmed he didn't hand in the workbook. My friend was very angry. Later he found his workbook in his bag. The teacher didn't think it was a big deal. How come?

In reply to the above comment. I think the teacher is really too lenient. Teacher should have reported the student to the disciplinary master who in turn should have publicly announce to the whole school that the student is a "liar". Get a few of his classmates to state that they overheard him saying that the reason he did not hand up his work was just to create a wayang.

Principal and other teachers should also sound off their disgust at the student. Student family should also be term as "liars' as they were responsible for bringing up such a student. Student should also be expelled from the school.

The school can’t allow such behavior. This would affect the reputation of the school and bring down the school’s name. To make matters worse school reputation and standing would be affected. No more parents would send their students to this school and no more funding from MOE. School will have to close down and the teachers no more jobs. Story to be continued…. (getting help from Hollywood script writer to add more drama mama to the story)

so in that sense we should get pap to hand over their seats to the opposition parties.

or maybe pap can step back and not defame the opposition like the way the opposition is defaming pap.

yup, I'd think that's how a democratic society should be run, parties in power like pap should be gentlemanly and allow the opposition to attack them like a normal political party without pap attacking the opposition back.

i want a democratic country man. put kids who don't hand up homework and say that they did up in the parliament man. they'll be such great talkers and revolutionise the country!

"Right now we have Low Thia Khiang, Chiam See Tong, Steve Chia. We can deal with them. Suppose you had 10, 15, 20 opposition members in Parliament. Instead of spending my time thinking what is the right policy for Singapore, I'm going to spend all my time thinking what's the right way to fix them, to buy my supporters votes, how can I solve this week's problem and forget about next year's challenges?"

please lah, what gentleman? imagine you are the only mama shop in the area for half a century.. would you allow a few mama shops to compete with you in the area. Its not about gentleman, thats not the point. Its about survival. Don't be so silly. I would probably sent some ah beng and burn down my competitors' mama shop siah.
