S'pore news papers explain real reason behind IMF protest ban!!

I thought the Singapore govt banned IMF outdoor protests because they wanted these protesters to spend more time at our air-conditioned shopping malls instead of suffering under the hot sun....its for their own good not to protest. I was wrong.

The New Paper revealed today that the PAP govt banned IMF protesters because they are fakes.....yes fake protesters. They have no worthy causes and are doing it for fame. I'm sure there are many famous IMF protesters who are household names today, but I don't seem to know any. I guess the people really suffering from IMF policies like the milk producers in Jamaica who were wiped out by large American corporations probably cannot afford to fly all the way to Singapore.

Now I understand why the PAP govt bans protesting in Singapore. It is to prevent the emergence of fake Singaporean protesters who will deceive us into thinking there are real issues that we need to think about in Singapore. It is for our own good that protests are banned in Singapore.

We are so lucky to have a govt that protects us from fakes. Their care and concern for us is genuine...we should all be thankful and smile when the IMF delegates come...

Better don't protest on the streets lah. Last week when I drive home after buying my Plasma TV from Suntec, I already find the traffic very bad despite all that ERP gantries. Got protest, the streets block up how? Worse still pick a fight then how to shop in the city on weekends?

Wong Kan Seng should do more.

He should also arrest those foreign talents who are selling those cheap fake designer watches and LV bags to Singaporeans...

What about those fake foreign talents we have amongst us?!

We singaporeans feel so disgusted and threatened by all these fake talents around us too.

We are going to be like Paris, we can't have all these fake stuff around to tarnish that cultured image of a french society ....

If protesters are fakes,IMF and World Bank are the mothers of all fakes.

Why ban protest? I suggest to gazette police academy parade sq as the only official ground for protest. It would be a good training ground for the riot police like those clips in 140th & TV news.

In this way, the protest can be managed, no traffic jam and I can continue to shop.

Got meh?? Last week when my chauffeur was driving me home after buying my LCD TVs there were no traffic. Got protest will liven up the dull atmosphere, especially at the ERP gantries with the boring beeping when money is deducted.

Better still if got fight, after shopping if bored, got entertainment somemore.

You singaboreans are too chicken shit to do anything. You are scared, afraid and only know how to complain. You want to make sure your sad HDB can sell with a profit, that you can have the latest gadget, the latest shiny black car, and all the trims and comforts of a materialistic society.
For this you are willing to let yourself be F**ked over and over again.
You deserve what you got..

HAHAHAHA.

Here I come again, tan's long time enemy.

Again, the posts and comments entertain me and give me mirth (it's really funny. no kidding!).

Dear me, didn't you know that the protesters were NOT Singaporeans? They are so many other foreigners (like as YOU mentioned yourself about those farmers) that are AFFECTED BY WORLD BANK AND IMF POLICIES. For example, Indonesia is allowing protesters to gather on one of their islands since Singapore now bans protests.

My Sincere advice: read the news. Get a whole picture. Don't bother being so "self-deluding", it's ok. Newpapers in Singapore is quite cheap. Especially when they inform you of REAL happening, IMF-affected poorer people around the world.

Anyway thanks for the laughs :)

In the minds of white men, protest is an impolite expression of dissension. The preferred mode of discussion or resolution favored has to be mutually enriching. If you are not aligned in that order, then you are out of order. Do not block the fountain of wealth as it is bad 'feng shui'. The intertwined relationships of globalised villagers will hurt more harm than heal. For the good that comes of it does not justify the evil that seethes beneath the golden pot.

You managed to make ys contribute more smiles to the IMF event!

You must continue to do so as I heard many smiles have soured because apparently, there aren't that many spending delegates!

We have also attracted all the cheapo types who come here for free food and freebies ... very singaporean leh.
