Remember to file and pay your taxes!

Time to file your dues to Singapore Inc. I passed by the IRAS, it looks like they have not updated their brochures - "Taxes for Nation Building" should be renamed "Service Charge for Singapore Inc".

What ever happens, always pay Singapore Inc first....otherwise (click on image):

Capt Canuck,

You think it is very funny? The IRAS can also freeze Singaporeans' salary from their employers and deduct the income tax.

You're from Canada right? Do you guys have pay as you earn type of income tax system?

We were suppose to switch to that but the PAP realised that the switch will mean they collect one yr of income tax less from each person so they decided not to go ahead. Malaysia went ahead with it and gave their people one-yr tax holiday as a result of the system switch.

I'm not a good citizen because I don't contribute to nation building.

I don't qualify to pay taxes because I don't even make $22k a year , even though I do have a full time job, work more than needed (don't get OT pay), have 2 degrees and 1 diploma.

But I'm doing something I love and expected to work for passion more than money. The fate of the creative industry...

SO if I do get a pay raise in the next year, income tax makes it equivalent to not getting a raise in the first place.

But then raising the pay of small little unimportant citizens (slaves) like me is not as essential as raising the minister's (masters) pay because they work so hard for our economy!!

anon,

Don't worry about being left out. Once the GST is increase all of us get a chance to contribute more to nation building...even the jobless and those on PA get to contribute more in the form of GST.

That is what the PAP means when they say "No one is left behind"....with GST hike everyone gets to contribute to nation building...no one needs to feel left out.
