Al Gore would have done the world a real favour had he during his electoral fight with Bush:

1) Call into question the tricky "butterfly" fixing of the polls

2) challenged the judicial ruling to stop vote recount, allowing thereby the evil Bush to steal the presidency from under his nose and subsequently almost succeeded in destroying the global order.

Now Al Gore talks the Green cause; there will be no such cause to talk if the whole world had been on fire.

Al Gore either does not yet recognise the great risk that the Bush govt continues to pose to the world or is just too fond of safer causes.

Al Gore is not a hero to me.

A true hero will fight for a noble cause even if the world is against him.

Now he is just an opportunist riding on the popularity of the Green wave of which he is no initiator.

The previous sentence should read :

1) Call into question the tricky "butterfly vote" fixing of the polls by the Bush camp.

i hope is not another y2k scare for some kind of political agenda? other than that, it goes to show you don't need to be in office to influence the world.

Woah, what's with all the detractors.

This is a politician that actually respects and understands the science and uses his charisma to influence political will to cut down on CO2 emission.

If you had any inkling of an idea of how bad the global warming skepticism is in the US, you would appreciate how difficult such an undertaking is. It is hardly popular with the crowd, so to speak.

And Gore does recognize the threat of the Bush administration to American democracy and the world. Read The Assault on Reason for yourself.

I find it vaguely amusing to question his political agenda for 'fear mongering' when there's a much clearer one behind global warming denial. We're talking about the rich fossil fuel industry here.

Get a grip on reality. The scientific consensus no longer disputes global warming and hasn't been for a long time. The ongoing debate within the scientific community is a fabrication by the media.
