Interesting quote on Dubai....

runroad left this quote in his comments in my blog....

"Dubai has the resources and visionary leadership to be one of the world's leading business hubs." Singapore's elder statesman said: "I'm greatly enthused by what's happening in Dubai. It's spectacular" -Lee Kuan Yew in the UAE, April 29, 2007.
.
..and yessir, MM Lee is also a visionary.

Of course he is. He says so often enough. That is good enough for me.

Great minds think alike, fools seldom differ.

Haj for the Muslim countries and US Thanksgiving.

Its just a good time in a thin market to trigger all the stop lost. Its all wayang No worries!

I just realized that alot of stuff MM said ends up making him look silly; Dubai, 'Golden Era', predictions of economic recovery, stop at 2 policy, etc etc.

I look up to MM Lee as my compass in the stock market. Any time he says 'buy', it's time to sell!

But one thing MM Lee never got it wrong. And for 40 over years.

PAP got at least 98% seats at every election.

And this is the most important thing too.

For PAP guys monitoring this blog, please have the guts to tell MM not to make any more forecasts. My concern is that his views might also be based on what he received from his ministers.

Foreign $ has no roots. Is likely there would be larger swings in booms & busts in S'pore.

Visionary or false prophet....

But one thing is for sure he is senile liao.

Someone should just compile a list of his sayings and what follow after that. I remembered his call to Singaporeans to go regional around 1996. Many followed and died. The Asian financial crisis was in 1997-1998. Use him as a contrarian signpost.

Who needs the mayan calendar or Nostradamus when we have our very own MM Lee,

Daughter-in-law also possesses this spectacular visionary genius. The family is so unfairly blessed.

can we start compiling a small booklet of MM widsdom quotes which ends up looking silly? i'm sure it would sell very well

To be fair to the old man, he made that statement while visiting Dubai. Just like when someone invite you for dinner you would probably thank them for the good food even if it tasted bad, it was appropriate for him to praise them for their "achievements". Whether he actually believed what he said is something that we will never know.

"Whether he actually believed what he said is something that we will never know."

that will make him hypocritical. but then we all know that's nothing, compared to the treachery during WWII

MM Lee has way past his peak. He should have retired 10 years agao when Goh took over.

Lee has over stayed due to greed and a constant fear that if he retired, his family will be prosecuted.

When a con man is seen as a visionary, then when he says buy, you must sell; and when he says sell, you must buy and keep.

That is why when some old fox said it was a Golden Era, I quickly sold all my stocks and buy gold.

And when Temasek and GIC were reported to have lost $58 billion and $59 billion respectively, I converted my gold to the dwindling bank stocks.

When MTI announced that the economy has recovered, I sold all my bank stocks and buy gold and Chinese Yuan.

Yes, we can always trust a visionary but first we must check what kind of vision it is.

Dubai must have been advised by many 'foreign talents' with dubious backgrounds.

When the CEOs are dubious, just wonder how many dubious 'foreign talents' are there lurking in GIC and Temasick.
