Teo Soh Lung: 23 years on S'pore, M'sia ex-ISA detainees speak out

You watch this video .....its a reminder that the ISA/ISD is still around, the draconian Newspaper and Presses Act that the Law Society opposed 23 years ago is still around, the illegal assembly laws have been tightened and so on. I would like to bring your attention to something that you might have missed that came out a few days ago - International Quality of Life Index. Singapore ranked 70[Link] behind all other developed Asian countries - Japan, Taiwan, S. Korea. These countries have thrived as full blown democracies. As the economic achievements of the PAP govt start to fade and is overtaken by other countries, what stands out is its authoritarianism. This auhoritarianism has become hard for ordinary Singaporeans to accept as it stands in the way of much needed change.

So is she or is she not a Marxist conspirator? As with Vincent Cheng's recent statement on U tube, I think the home ministar should enlighten the public so that we know the truth. dt

Singapore may have authoritarianism. Quality of life (by the way this is subjective) index may drop.

But Singapore will remain socially and politically very stable. There is will be lasting peace and properity, at least on the surface, and this is good enough for any government.

Why so? Because it is unique, being only a small urban city state of only 5 million people. Hence it is easier to make 66% happy and rich (eg by letting happy foreigners in and making them citizens) than compared to China with more than 1 billion people.

So as long as quality life (again I repeat this is subjective) is OK for the majority, then things will be OK. And for a long time to come.

It is also OK for most, if not all bloggers or other critics to criticise the govt or be pro-opposition. As long as they confine themselves to blogs and not willing or dare to contest as opposition candidates at elections. And so far so good with walkovers as a unique feature in our elections.

Well,ex-misister Dana himself has confirmed that he did not believe it,being an insider, and a strong believe of Lord Jesus,I choose to believe him,not that talk COCK king Goh-of peanuts wife fame!

ISA is above the law. There won't be a lawful state.

@9.31.
As u said, Dana is a Christian. So he would probably be inclined to take sides with the alleged Marxists who were also Christians. Really the home ministar shd come out to clear the air. dt

....Really the home ministar shd come out to clear the air. dt

This will never happen as a lair very never admit himself is a liar.

For goodness sake, you expect the home minister to admit that they were motivated by politic rather than facts. The British archives have proven that Operation Coldstore was abused to get rid of opposition rather than communist and than there was no evidence to prove than Lim Chin Siong was one. Yet till today , the home minister is insisting he was one. Well all oppositions were at first communist, later cheats, lier, racist, you name. Only the man in white is a fucking GOD

You got it spot on. But I think it is not unreasonable to expect the home ministar to come forward to clear the air. He is afterall an elected representative of the people and is paid with taxpayers' money. Having Marxists amongst us is dangerous to our fabric. I personally do not wish to live under a Marxist regime.
So are the Maxist conspirators real? Or was it a fickle of imagination? 23 years on, I think Singaporeans are mature enough to judge for themselves if the facts are laid before us. I encourage the ministar to do so. dt

Vote for the PAP, only if you believe in its policies.

All these unlawful detentions were due mainly to the newspaper acts, which is still *brainwashing* the populace to this very day.

Elections coming soon and you see so-called "journalists" employed by SPH-PAP corp writing fake news in the newspapers as if they are real news, eg. about how good sin is to make you feel good.

I believe those detainees were social workers affiliated to the church. I also believe they did raise the issue of social injustice like what Lucky is doing today. Unlike Lucky, they were not able to hide behind the anonimity of the internet. Plus the kind of work they were doing in the community forced them to come out in the open.

It was easier for the government to label them as Marxist conspirators rather than Christian social workers. Singaporeans in those days were not exactly political savvy. Most simply assume Marxism is a dirty word without really understanding the principles behind the ideology. Same trick worked during Operation Cold Store in the 60's.

Fastforward 20 years and we have new bogeymen today. Anyone they want to "fix", they simply label as Muslim terrorist or race chauvinist and no one will raise a finger to protest. No need for messy legal procedures. ISA is a very important weapon in PAP's arsenal and I'm sure they will not hesitate to use it if their position is threaten. So you guys who think you can get away with saying what you want better think again. There is no freedom of expression in Singapore. Just becuase they have not come for you doesn't mean they condone your actions.

When they move against you, no one can help you. No one will help you. You'll be on your own.
