Dictator Kim Jong Il is dead....

....and he is so loved by his people.

Here's a leader who kept his people ignorant for decades, make them live in utter poverty and deprive them of every single freedom. He lived in luxury while his people suffered, yet he is so loved by his people. If you have any doubt propaganda works, and can be use to completely deceive millions, you should see what is happening in N. Korea right now.
Today N. Korea's GDP is 3% that of S. Korea's. In the 70s, N. Korea's GNP was actually comparable to that of the south.....actually S. Korea's GNP only surpassed the N. Korea's in 1975.  Since the 70s, North Korea has economy has deteriorated. While some parts his country suffered famine, Kim Jongcono Il had a institute with 200 cooks creating new cuisines for him. He was known to be a drinker and womaniser. The Chinese tried to persuade him to open up N. Korea's economy but he refused because he knew that once people have access to information his propaganda machine cannot work and he would lose power fast.
North Korea is officially known as Democratic People's Republic of Korea. This is a joke. It is clearly not a democracy but a dictatorial dynastic rule.  It is more like a dictator's paradise than a "people's republic". Millions suffer to preserve the luxury lifestyle of a handful of elites that use nuclear weapons to threaten the world.   Unfortunately, N. Koreans are too brainwashed to liberate themselves. They have no Facebook, no Twitter and no blogs because the govt has physically isolated the Internet so that only N. Korean sites can be accessed. This is known as the N, Korean intra-net. All it takes to topple this regime is to connect a cable from this intra-net to the Internet and deliver the truth to the N. Korean people.  When a power structure built on propaganda, myths and lies, the system can be toppled easily when people have access to the truth.

I will be the first to rejoice when LSH die. Death is the fairest rite? U can be a tyrant for as long as you like... until u die. Same for LKY. No one has ever escaped death.

Breaking News: Well-placed sources in Pyongyang last night confirmed that North Korea's 'Dear Leader' has changed his name from Kim Jong-Il to Kim Jong-Dead.

Muahahaha!

- When people have been brutalised for generations like the poor N. Koreans, it is highly unlikely that the sudden removal of their shackles will cause the nation to rise up spontaneously to overthrow their tormentors. More likely the populace will be like creatures kept in the dark all their lives suddenly thrust into the light, blinking in bewilderment and wanting nothing more than to turn around and return to known terrors rather than face the unknown future. It will be a long time, if ever, before they shake off their intense and profound mental fear. Sounds like Singaporean Syndrome, actually.

- The public grieving may not be all it appears. The BBC reports that refugees who have escaped the living hell that is N. Korea say that you cannot afford NOT to be seen crying your heart out on events like the death of dictator Kim Il-Sung and now his whelp Jong-Il. Apparently many pinch themselves hard to bring about the required emotion and sound effects.

- FAP professional mourners and sycophants should stock up with personal pliers as painful pinching will soon be the order of the day when our old gargoyle finally kicks his shit-can down the road. Shops will report that 6 out of 10 citizens bought pincers and the remaining 4 insisted on champagne.

Kim Jong Il died is big news (or concern??) and world event because his country has nuclear weapons that can reach Japan and even across the Pacific Ocean to USA!

If not, his death is a non event.

Do you expect the same when our leaders die? Internationally, that is. Of course it will be big news locally. But no matter what, 60% will support the new leader, for sure.

Is it fair to compare economies using different currencies? Singapore's economy has grown by leaps and bounds.

It took $40k to buy a semi D. Now it costs $3m. What is the real value?

A Chinese soldier cost 10k rmb to upkeep a year. And American soldier costs US$50k. Still a soldier.

I don't know why people keeps claiming N.Korea to be a really bad country. The same for Libya,Hitler Germany,Stalin USSR.There should be another side to these leaders.
Or would you want freedom?
Just like the US whose top elites controls most of the wealth by cheating money out of their own citizen.

May this monster rot in HELL.

Wow!
Many Singaporeans seemed to know North Korea from inside out. More than they seem to know about their own Sin.
INCREDIBLE! Or are the Post and comments credible??

Singapore is rich and getting richer.
Is Singaporeans also same same?
They are more imaginative, tat's 4 sure!

Our economy is bigger because our cars cost $100k each while theirs are $10k each.

Our people pays tens of thousands for hospital bills, they probably got free medical. Oops, sorry ours is $8 for major surgery, $8 more expensive than the North Koreans.

The North Korean elites have access to the internet. They like to play online games. They also buy many things as they have alot of money.

Truth be told, I am quite sure the govts of PRC, Soviet Union and dare I say, Pappies, sort of view Kim Jong-Il with unstated envy in the way he managed to 'fatten' himself in so much adoration from the masses through sure tyranny and propaganda. They all wish they could do it too like KJI and get away with it.

Not to be disrespectful of the North Korean people because I know it is not their fault... but if only they knew how pathetic they appear to the people on the outside. Haiz...

Some folks are not meant to be mourn in death. Hitler was one, this fellow is another.

Really they are pathetic? They live in houses they built themselves at a fraction of the cost of your little flat. And they don't need 30 years to pay for the loan.

They probably laughing silly at the amount of money you are willing to pay for that little space for 99 years.

You think they are daft like Singaporeans who blindly cry for the death of their leader?

Singapore also have two very strong intra-net: SPH & Mediacorp.
We need only 60% of the population to connect a wire to the internet to see the HARD TRUTH that they have been living under PAP lies for decades.

Those people who cries look so staged or they are part of the cronies to suck the people dry.

In Singapore, I would pop champagne and cheers to the world because the poors here have been unfairly treated. No question about it.

There is a very good book called the Aquariums of Pyongyang (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Aquariums_of_Pyongyang) which explains the power of the Kim family rule. There actually are about 25-30% of the population - the military, Communist party and civil servants who live quite comfortable lives. They and their families ensure that those who disagree with the regime or are suffering are labelled as extremists or "duds" or westernized, foreign agents. The majority of the population aspires to get into the elite 25-30% which many of them do by virtue of either hard work or more likely currying favour with the local communist party leadership. That is a very successful formula. Even the United States and Japan are afraid of North Korean nuclear weapons. They cannot be that backward if they can do that....

Lucky did you live in NK? how u know Kim Jong was a dictator? What about famine, were you there personally to see people dying from hunger? you sit thousands miles away yet talk like you've known NK your whole life... come on man... not even close to LKY's authoritarian rule... our old man got peanut balls...

Me am certainly v veri surprise by the so many North Korean Experts in Sin.
Such that me feels that N Korea is not that 'closed'(isolated) after all.
Do read My Singapore News(Bogsite) where many of the folks there have quite a different take.

What we know about NK is mostly from the Western media. What we know about Nazis Germany was from the Western view. No doubt Hitler has done many bad things. But he has actually rebuilt a Germany from craps after WW1 to a powerful full employment country. How has he done it? The Western economists should review his ways rather than just ignore it because it is a Nazis Germany.

Similarly, how do you know the actual NK situation? Just like the Westerners know what Singapore is. Their views may not be the reality and truth.

So long as there is man, there is propaganda to advance his agenda. What he did it? Because he cannot afford to tell the hard truth.

When QGC passed away, some government department civil servants were asked to wear correctly and be punctuate on designated place to pay respects to her during the funeral. The MSM captured the scenes on newspapers and TV screens. Does it sound the same as what NK is doing for the dead leader.

now 马屁精 is busying design LKY picture on the currency notes. Once he pass away his picture will appear on the note asap.
They are superstitious that only dead person picture should appear on the notes.

At the expense of ethnic cleansing? Sorry but you are clearly deluded. The fact that there have been numerous assassinations on Hilter by Germans themselves show that Hilter has deviated strongly from the German sense of HONOUR. Perhaps you should go reflect more on this... To show such blatant support for this German disgrace and monster is sheer insult to the millions of people who have been killed and tortured under his regime. You might as well support Pol Pot.

The fate of Hilter and many other dictators show that the Machiavellian method of governance never comes to a good end -- LKY should had paid closer attention during his history lesson.

For you info, when Vietnam attached Cambodia in 1975, LKY support Pol Pot. 100% true. I remembered clearly how Singapore support a resolution in UN to recongise Pol Pot government.
When I read all those things about how people suffered under Pol Pot, it make me mad about LKY. There should have some information then about Pol Pot did from Vietnam's sources.

correction should be "attacked Cambodia in 1978/1979"
