From the Courtesy Campaign to Integration Woes...

UPDATE:
.
Here is a video of a current affairs programme during which a caller phoned in and made his views felt (see 30 seconds into the video). He spoke very bluntly but he echoed the sentiment of  so many Singaporeans across the country who feel crowded out and 2nd class in their own country. It is hard not to feel this way when one witnesses so often incidents similar to the one on the bus involving the old lady and the foreigner. On a typical ride on the bus or MRT, more than half the time Singaporeans find they are a minority in MRT carriage or bus they are on.....let me ask you, how else do you expect ordinary Singaporeans to feel?
.

I remember many years back our leaders felt that Singaporeans' manners were not too good and courtesy campaigns were organised to get Singaporeans to be more courteous to one another. It seemed that our less than perfect manners were a problem for our leaders who viewed our sometimes uncouth behavior as undesirable.

.
This scene of a conflict between a Singaporean and (newly arrived?) foreigners is hardly new for anyone - I saw such an incident myself a few days ago. I won't venture to guess who is right and wrong in this case but such incidents can happen due to cultural and behavior differences. Also, a video may not show the full story and finding fault with foreigners is not the point of this posting.
.
My point is this. Over the decades, the very domineering PAP govt has put many  demands on Singaporeans - be more courteous, do not spit and litter, don't chew gum, be bilingual, speak proper English not Singlish, flush toilet after use, You get this sensing that Singaporeans are perpetually not good enough for our leaders. Not courteous, don't speak proper English, not good at 2 languages, not graceful ...and so on. They were serious about fixing  what they saw as deficiencies in Singaporeans. For example, many of my friends despite good grades for science and maths subjects couldn't get into university because they failed their GP (General Paper). Others had to struggle with 2nd language because they were not good at languages.,,,and some of these Singaporeans had to forgo tertiary education that they were able to attain if they didn't have the money to go overseas.   However, when the PAP wanted more foreigners, they gave them scholarships to study free in Singapore and some of them have such bad English, they can't even speak one proper sentence, yet they were allowed to enter our universities and polytechnics. We see this eagerness of PAP govt to embrace foreigners and a comparative lack of appreciation in the treatment of Singaporeans in the past.
.
PAP elitism is not just  about amplifying the glorious achievements of leadership but also about amplifying the inadequacies of ordinary Singaporeans. Ordinary Singaporeans are never good enough for the leadership - I often wonder if one of the favorite past-time of our leaders is to lament the deficiencies of lesser mortal Singaporeans and how to stick the spurs into their hide....oh how we fall short of their high standards. I remember a speech given by Lee Kuan Yew years ago about how Singaporeans workers did not perform as well as Japanese workers because we were not a homogeneous workforce and he went on to talk about how many decades more Singapore workers would take to overcome this disadvantage. At that time the Singapore workforce was ranked number 1 in the world but Singaporeans were still not good enough. However, when the PAP wanted to import foreign workers, the importance of " a homogeneous workforce" can be tossed aside just like that. When it comes to foreign imports, it is almost like "anyone will do".  Don't speak good English? ...never mind, here's a scholarship come study here for free. Don't have courtesy? Lets just tell ordinary Singaporeans not to be xenophobic and tolerate it. Homogeneous workforce? Not important anymore.
.
See when the PAP imported new citizens and workers, they are willing to accept what didn't accept in their own people. With this elitist myth of superior leadership being primarily responsible for Singapore's success slowly breaking down as more people see the govt for what it really is,   the gulf between the leadership and the ordinary people is widening as the leadership tells us to integrate with foreigners.
.
Watching the video just reminds me those past old PAP govt campaigns to make citizens better - be more courteous, be bilingual, speak better English....make ordinary Singaporeans better because they are never good enough.
But when they wanted foreigners, anyone will do....lets open our arms to embrace them, they are good for Singapore, they help to build our economy, they are critical to our growth. Despite what ordinary Singaporeans have done in the past, we have never been "embraced", appreciated and our achievements acknowledged in the same way the PAP govt acknowledges that of the foreign workforce. When it comes to foreigners everything can be accepted and the PAP govt tells us to be tolerant, non-xenophobic and integrate....accept their behavior...somehow Singaporeans find it hard to do this especially when it comes from a leadership so high-handed in telling us how to behave and  lead our lives.....now when it comes to foreigners we must just accept.

Don't blame the Pro Alien Party.
Don't blame the foreigners.

Blame 60% of your friends & relatives who voted for the Pro Alien Party.

If you want to change Singapore.
You must change the votes of your friends and relatives.

Just get one of them vote Opposition.
If all of us did this.
40% will become 80%.

The PAP government is simply naive to treat people as digits. People have different culture, languages and values. People are live human beings.

Is the PM Lee lead PAP government aware that mass immigration of huge numbers of foreigners cause conflicts between them and locals and even between foreigners? Stop placing the responsibility of integration on local Singaporeans. You messed up you clean up.

Keep it up PAP! Soon even your most faithful supporters might just have enough of you and vote you out.

Seriously, what if we get what we wish for and the Workers Party & SDP form a coalition govt? As much as I love to have the opposition(s) in govt, I worry whether they can take over and govern.

A first world parliament always has an opposition with a shadow cabinet with serious alternative policies for every major area of govt ranging from healthcare to finance to defence.

Unfortunately, our opposition has not progressed from just taking potshots at selected policies to get elected. It is quite a sad state of affairs for Singapore politics which must get ready for the envt after the post LKY era.

This is the problem of the average Singaporeans who have to us the public transport but is not a problem for our elitist Ministers who have their luxury cars.

Being the eldest child, my parent always asked me to give in to my younger sister and brother and in time, my siblings just expect me to give in to them all the time.

It is the same here with the PAP asking Singaporeans always to give in to the foreigners. From my experience, this is not the right thing to do. We need to stand up for our rights otherwise we will be doomed.

My advice is if the PAP cannot control the foreigners and the mess they created, they do not deserve to be in government. Do not listen to their SPIN. We must throw the ball back to their court. They need to start using their brains.

FYI, the reason we pay them so much money is because they have virgin brains, they don't use them.

If SDP gets elected, can you tell me who will be the defence minister, education minister, health minister, etc.

This is a question for the alternative parties. Either you shape up, get your act together, agree on a common goal that benefit the local born Singaporeans or you can forget about winning over the die hard PAP supporters.

P.S. Don't forget your secret squirrels hor.

Anonymous said...

Mr Lucky... it is called adopting double standards -- a forte of the PAP! For example, low wage earners should not get a pay raise because it is economically 'dangerous' and then they raise their own salary for politicans.

Anonymous said...

One more thing, please have the mindset that you will be replacing the government. Start lining up potential ministers for 2016. Singapore can no longer wait for alternative parties to take small cautious steps. If not, my vote for you will just go to waste.

Alternative parties must work together or form a new combined party. United you stand, divided you fall. If you are serious about helping Sinhaporeans.

Your article was well written with a lot of truth that the local had experienced. Sadly, the elite party have eyes that cannot see. Have ears that cannot hear.

Most of the time, the authority will turn their eyes off to foreigner trash's behaviour. It is the people on the ground that is accepting the bloody trash. We have been so tolerant to their trash.

Everywhere they go it spell TROUBLE. They should go back to their homeland since they are so proud of it.

There is a good saying, " when u r in Rome, do as Roman do." If you can't adapt just move on. I have seen with my own eyes how China employee will band together to get their way around in a company.

May the day of judgement come upon the elite party that they will awaken to the reality.

To the PAP ass-licking commentator,
When PAP first started out in the 1960s, it was an opposition party (gasp!) and it was NOT capable of naming its future finance minister, defence minister etc! But slowly, it came into power and slowly it produced all the ministers required.

Now is the best time to put more and more opposition members into parliament, so that they can steadily build up and train up their future finance minister, defence minister etc.

Let's do it now, while Singapore is still at the brink of breakdown - not after Singaporeans start rioting against the dictatorial PAP!

Anonymous said...

And we are still 'not good enough' because we have to learn to embrace the new citizens, be more accommodating, guide them, understand them etc etc etc.

Anonymous said...

Please lah.. If PAP can just put a stupid general like kee chiu to be a minister an eye doctor who has no military background to be a defence minister, anyone can do better. To name a few, VW, ML from SDP are good enough.

//The lady in question had at the start of the video commented that she had already given up the seat yet being scolded.
Is this not the same case situation of the ah lian vs the auntie.//

The difference between this PRC woman and the Ah-lian woman is that the latter gave up her seat and let the old woman grumble. Here the PRC woman gave up the seat and apparently very "buay-song" and instead continue to pick a fight and yell at the grumbling old woman. Notice the old woman didn't even dare to take the seat !!! Had it not been for the domestic maid covering her from the PRC verbal and physical assault, she probably would have suffered a different fate.

Better you pay some attention because these details can help you learn and decipher a lot about the behaviors of some new citizens, instead of lecturing the old/existing ones.

Anonymous said...

To theonion. I notice you made similar comments comparing this case to Ah lian vs auntie case on several websites to say the old lady is wrong. I wonder why u so keen to defend the PRC? Did you watch the video? Its pretty clear the old lady ask for the seat nearer the entrance as nowadays buses are very jerky. A normal person would have given up the seat and move off to another seat. What did this siao char bor do? Obviously buay song got to give seat to old lady and started screeching at the top of the voice and shouted that Singaporeans have "no quality" etc. And she went on and on and on and the old lady wasn't even making much noise. And she almost hit the old lady. Goodness me. And this is so different from the ah lian case. Want to support PRC also must use brain lah.

In simple English, PAP is like double head snake.
PAP adopts double standards for Singaporeans and foreigners.
To the PAP, the standard for Singaporeans is to find all kind of faults in Singaporeans
whereas
PAP set loose standard for foreigners; PAP adopts policy to let any donkey foreigners to enter Singapore.
Letting all the donkey foreigners to come into Singapore has created all kinds of donkey problems Singaporeans are experiencing.
Thank you PAP for causing Singaporeans to be in this donkey situation.

Anonymous said...

"PAP set loose standard for foreigners; PAP adopts policy to let any donkey foreigners to enter Singapore."
Anon 25/7/12 21:28

Because having donkey foreigners is still better than having no foreigners!

And if PAP govt don't want to take in "donkey" foreigners, then PAP govt will have no foreigners to take.

PAP govt cannot afford to be choosy when taking foreigners. Or else they got nothing to choose.

Anonymous said...

It's very true lah. Singapore is not the first choice at all for talented foreigners to come, even though PAP govt is very talented with million $ ministers in charge.

Because PAP believe money can buy talent, especially minister type talent.

But can money buy foreign talent? Or rather cheaper foreign talent?

What do you think?

Anonymous said...

At first i was wondering which selfish person left so many plastic bags strewn over the bus floor such that no one could get in the seat. Then I watched the video again and somewhere in the middle the PRC woman picked up her messy plastic bags. I don't know whether the old lady asked for the seat or commented on the plastic bags obstruction, but whatever it is, the PRC woman should not have reacted that way. And why so buay song to remove some plastic bags? Unbelievable. Scolded the old lady for perhaps 10 minutes?

Anonymous said...

Looks like Singaporeans really heed PM advice to try our best to "integrate" the foreigners. Kena insulted by the PRC lady for so long and not a single soul stood up to defend the old lady or defend her accusations about our country. Is that what the PAP wants? Singaporeans to swallow our pride and let the PRCs insult us and our beloved country? PAP already succeeded - they must be celebrating how Singaporeans all diam diam and allow the PRC to abuse us.

Anonymous said...

I don't think the PRC lady is provoked by the old lady at the beginning. All the PRC's screaming centers around why the old lady asked for the priority seat when there is another empty seat behind. A reasonable person would have realised the old lady need a seat nearer the door and also the PRC lady has obstructed the seat behind with all her plastic bags. Had the old lady provoked her with nasty remarks, the PRC woman will be shouting "what did u scold me?" instead of "why you can't the seat behind?" I can't believe anyone can be so uncultured.

The problem is not with the foreigners who came here. They just want a better life for themselves. Nothing wrong with that.

The problem is with the SYSTEM. The phone interviewee in the first youtube video was right. Where in the freaking world are foreingers treated as first class residents by the state? Tell me!

There is a lot of anger seething under the surface. One day it will erupt and suddenly Singapore will be gone. It is as brittle as that, and our leaders instead of worrying how Singapore could do without foreigners should worry about what Singapore could do if there're too many foreigners. They're attempting to reframe the entire issue now but everybody has eyes to see.

When you have 1 million of little emperors/empresses who comes from 1-child policy, used to every whims and fancies and getting their way and attention from their parents, do you think they will learn the same way of respect if they don't get their way?

The only consideration that these policy-workers who think chinese immigrants make good arrivals is because they's only one angle point of view they looked at. That because they are denied 2nd/3rd child, these new citizens will automatically want to have more children when they settle here. Thus the logical conclusion that they will bear more babies for Singapore. But soon, they realize the high cost of living here, and decided against it.

Otherwise, show me their immigration report viz-a-viz their reproduction-baby-figures!!? Show me where are these spoilt brats today?

I have re-watched the video several times now, and it's quite hard to catch the full ti-for-tat quarrels between the old woman (her voice is quite soft) and the PRC woman..she is definitely louder and fiercer but she did defend Singapore has many first-rate civilized people she has met (and unlike the old woman who is a shame to Singaporeans) etc..

The old woman was certainly provoking her with many unkind jibes which only went on to fuel the PRC. But from the heaty exchange, since the bus driver appears to be Indian, he probably couldn't understand what was the quibble about.

Conclusion - PRC woman has bi-polar.
Old woman has menopause.
Both are very "guai-lan"..
so they crossed their paths, and deserve each other!

How to do this?
1. tell them maid levy = tax on filial piety.
If they employ maid to look after their parents.

2. tell them maid levy = tax on family.
If they hire maid to look after their young children.

3. show this video of the PRC woman to your elderly parents.
tell them this is the result of the Pro Alien Party's immigration policy.

I think the PRC has engaged her "friends" to call up radio stations to tell a fake story. Either that or the PAP IB out in full force. Some phantom radio caller said the the PRC lady gave up the seat happily and the old lady sat down and called her a prostitute and scolded her, that was why she reacted that way. doesn't need genius to know this can't be right.

(i)The FLOOR of the priority seat is full of plastic bags of groceries that belong to the PRC lady. There is NO WAY the old lady could have sat on that priority seat. The PRC has flooded the floor with her pastic bags thinking that priority seats are supposed to be given to plastic bags. I am not surprised if the old lady merely ask her to remove her plastic bags.

(ii) The old lady couldn't have called her a prostitute at the start because if that is the case, a normal person would ask "Why did you call me a prostitute"? Instead in the beginning of the tirade, the PRC lady was just scolding about why must she give up priority seat to old lady?

(iii) Somewhere in the middle, the old lady cannot take the abuse anymore, and said something to the extent "why did u come and harm people?" That was when the PRC lady got really MAD and surged forward to hit the old lady. In short, if such a minor comment can cause the PRC lady to want to hit the old lady, its pretty clear to me there was no "prostiture" comment at the beginning.

I know many PAP internet brigade want to spin a story that says Singaporans are wrong and should apologise to PRCs. But I really feel sorry for the old lady and her family. She doesn't deserve to be painted at the aggressor here.

It is the failure of the government to integrate the immigrants who the government introduce into Spore in the first place. And the reason why immigration is needed? Economic growth. Come on, the government is really lacking in ideas on how to improve economic growth other than just by expanding cheap labour imports? Then why are they paid millions of dollars? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Study_mama

"In June 2006, a female Chinese national who owned a massage parlour, which allegedly provided sex services to clients, was stabbed to death in Ang Mo Kio. This drew public and media attention to vice-related activities at some of these massage parlours. In early July 2006, the government conducted a crackdown on illegal employment at the parlours and imposed stricter regulation on their operations. This led some peidu mamas to hold a protest outside the Chinese Embassy, despite the prohibition of such gatherings in Singapore."

And did I hear some people say Singaporean are xenophobia?

And Oh, I forgot, did the PM told us Singaporean to intgegrate with this PRC lady?

Singapore spent $12 billion dollars on its defence budget.

Dear men & women of SAF.
Dear NS men.

That elderly Singaporean woman is being bullied on a bus in Singapore.

What are you doing to defend this Singapore (elderly woman)?
Or is your job only to defend the expensive property of the rich elites?

One day, that elderly woman could be your mother.

$12 billion dollars spent on defence of Singapore in 2011.
And an elderly Singaporean woman still requires a foreign maid to defend her in Singapore.

What are you defending I really don't know.
Definitely not Singaporeans.

When you sing 'Stand Up for Singapore", I don't know where I'm going to hide my face on 9 August.

Two pre-requisite to sustain capitalism, else it will die in next second. First, infinite resource and second, surplus labor.

Imagine what would happen if there is no FT policy? There will be shortage of workers that result to a rise in salary. Workers will be empowered and managers will need to improve their skills else workers can leave a company and find another job easily.

These are fundamental changes to our society that PAP wants to avoid at all cost. The aggregate empowerment of workers will chip of all authoritative system in our society. Our leaders will not be able to live a single day in that system.

Hence, FT policy is actually a reactionary response to social progressiveness.

Instead the old woman started ranting at her for taking 2 seats and said PRC women only come here to spread their legs! So PLEASE, never jump to conclusions unless you have have seen the whole thing!

You miss the point. Any FT coming to our land must give due respect to us. To date, no FT dares to give trouble to Dubai-an no matter how bad are they treated. If this PRC woman is shown cursing a Dubai old lady, next day, the patriotic mullahs will call for Jihad against the ungrateful foreigners.

You will soon see a pogroms and bloodbath against these ungrateful beings.

All FT in UAE cringe when they see citizens. Singapore is the only country where FT humilate and dare to fuck locals. They have taken cues and were encourage by PAP for doing so.

Anonymous said...

@Veritas, No the point was not missed. I was making a point that every human being regardless of FT or citizen shld treat all others with respect regardless of FT or citizen. Wouldnt you react normally & shut up when you are overseas and says such disrespectful things when you are just offering your seat to that person? Do you want Singapore to turn into UAE where such pogroms or discrimation happens? Not me. If citizens want to take it out their frustration, they should take it out on the govt policies. Pls remember, your forefathers were immigrants too. Imagine how the original orang asli felt when 1outside race overran this country and took over it!!

@veritas "Singapore is the only country where FT humilate and dare to fuck locals. They have taken cues and were encourage by PAP for doing so"

I agree. I have lived in a western country for several years and have met and interacted with mnay PRCs. In the west , they are generally mild mannered and respectful becos 1. they don't speak good English,2. They have made it to the country of their dreams so they are motivated to integrate and respect the law etc. I have NEVER seen any immigrant (other than those with mental problems) whether they are pinoys, indians or PRCs who are as arrogant and full of entitlement as the ones in Singapore. This is entirely due to the message that Govt is giving them. That they are valued while sgpreans are the problem. So Sgpreans YOU ARE NOT XENOPHOBIC! Pls do not be brainwashed , it is only a natural reaction that you are uncomfortable with the excessive number of immigrants in your homeland! From now on, pls do not RELY on your govt anymore, pls THINK for yourselves!

When its time for us to be proud, then be proud, never mind people call us racist or other derogatory remarks. Everyone in the world like France, Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. Yet all these cannot be possible without the proud French people. When people speak of French, everyone curse these "fucking bastards", but meanwhile, everyone like their language and like to migrate to their countries.

Proud and racist citizen most often look after their own kind. We may curse the German and French as racist, but they take the best care of their old, sick and unemployed. To them, even their weakest kin is better than any foreign trash.

And this attitude actually win them respect all over the world.

Yes I am preaching racism, to be accurate "appropriate racism". The most racist state in the world like those of Gulf Arabs, France, Germany are those who really take care of their own people.

Before you want to denigrate racism, look at the other side of the coin. Nothing is completely bad. Excessive racism is bad but "mild racism" is desirable.

The "most meritocratic" Singapore are those who prostitute our own son and daughters to foreigners.

In Dubai, no pogroms happened. Not in my knowledge. This is precisely because the fanatic Arabs there are "appropriately racist" that the FT trash there know their own place instead of peeing on their head.

UAE racism has brought peace and stability. They have brought welfare to people, just like Germany and France. In "meritocratic" Singapore, unless we become more racist, we will continue to exploit our own kins.

Veritas said...

Something I want to add. The Indian racism is the worst shit in the whole world that everyone should destroy. Even Taliban is sheep compared to this suckers. They are the most degrading kind of civilization on earth.

I advocate nothing of that sort. Not only that, we should destroy all those fucking Indian mafia in Singapore, especially those idiots working in Citibank. They came here and kick out 100% of Chinese in CBP. Those FT Indians behave like spineless cowards all over UAE. In SG, they act like God. PAP cheers.

I remember drawing Singa the Courtesy Lion and a Bee called Teamy when I was in primary school. I even remember the song, "Courtesy is for free, courtesy is for you and me..."(Cham. I can't get it out of my head now.)

Campaigns were plentiful then, and based on childhood impressions, more PURPOSEFUL. People were more receptive and willing to "fall in line" with whatever the govt was promoting.

Unlike the recent ones like that Speak Good English campaign. People were critical of it and most treated it as something frivolous. I also thought: Walau, simi? The gahmen themselves speak v good English meh?

Anyway, to be fair, the PAP in the early 80s was largely considered a good govt that takes care of its people. And I think people were supportive of the campaigns coz they believed the govt was really trying to ENHANCE their quality of life. Why so? Like my parents, many were happy to live in modern HDB flats which cost $15k or less and they could truly afford. There were stability and job security. And my mum even bought me a Singa the Courtesy Lion soft toy! :p

*** BUT over the years, as there weren't any "competition to spur them on", the govt has morphed into... the gahmen. ***

So, were the campaigns successful? The Stop At Two was! I'm the second child, and my mum stopped. My parents did buy the govt's reason, something about fewer children having more to share. And my mum wasn't a graduate also.

The courtesy campaign? I dunno. I don't think I'm particularly rude before. But pls, how can we be courteous to the many f-trash like that PRC woman, who ACT VICTIMISED whenever they don't get their way? HOW?!

I'm v tired commenting on our self-serving gahmen... and paiseh, this comment is v long already...

Three very obvious AND serious reasons why we should not recklessly bring in foreigners:

1) Patriotism cannot be bought or imported, it has to be home grown and cultivated from the day the child is born here.

2) Foreigners aged like many aging Singaporeans. They are pushing off the hospital space that Singaporeans who worked and borned here deserved to be given.

3) As population aged, foreigners are likely to exploit the fragililty of some of our weak minded gray population and milked off the wealth from these old people thru illegal means of robbing or stealing or even lying to old fox about magical stones. The woman foreigners will use sex as bait, the foreign man will use force or worse resort to violent to get our elderly folks to submit.

Based on the above reasons, these country is not a safe place for the elderly of which many are living alone. I fear for our future if younger Singaporeans are not doing it fast enough to vote PAP out to protect this land before foreigners began to take control in every part of our lives.

Anonymous said...

"Singapore is not call garden city many years ago without good reasons. All these are destroyed when PAP decide to take down our green space to build housing for these foreign trash."

Look at the old days when trees were tall with huge cover and buildings were spaced much further apart among one another.

Fast forward today, while professing loudly on GREEN (some marketing shit), buildings are now closer to one another, units smaller, trees are shorter with little cover. Quality of live has deterioriated but somehow they have shitty survey to tell us otherwise.

It is quite obviously not the fault of the 60% that some posters are regurgitating here although that is a popular theme. If 1,000 Nicole Seahs were roaming the electoral constituencies EVEN IN DIFFERENT directions do you think the problem of "that" 60% would be quickly reduced, walkovers would be a thing of the past and gerrymandering boundaries would lose its effectiveness? Stop blaming the 60%. The lack of alternatives is the real problem and the opposition LEADERS are the real culprits. Blame the conservative self centred old school opposition LEADERS who by keeping everything to themselves aka chinamen style, have deliberately limited the growth of alternative oppositions outside their management.

Everyman for himself is, what doesn't go into the party coffers dun waste time!

The v old MP said in a NatGeo interview in 2010 that:

'Over time, Singaporeans have become "less hard-driving and hard-striving." This is why it is a good thing, that the nation has welcomed so many Chinese immigrants (25 percent of the population is now foreign-born). He is aware that many Singaporeans are unhappy with the influx of immigrants, especially those educated newcomers prepared to fight for higher paying jobs. But taking a typically Darwinian stance, the MM describes the country's new subjects as "hungry," with parents who "pushed the children very hard." If native Singaporeans are falling behind because "the spurs are not stuck into the hide," that is their problem.'

So, the shameful display of acting victimized and screeching at the top of her voice is the PRC way of being "hard-striving", and the gahmen welcome them coz they'll get "the spurs stuck into our hide"?!?!?!

!!!

I cannot believe PAP supporters, however diehard, can swallow that.

The gahmen themselves are the LEAST HARD-STRIVING ones! So we must vote in more oppo to SPUR them on.

Lucky Tan,
1) The fact that Singaporean feels minority in bus or MRT is due to the fact that you guys prefer to drive own car.

2) When you said "foreigners", please indicate correctly which foreigners?. The less fortunate PRC, Filipino, Malaysian, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Burmese, Indians, Pakistani, Bangla are here to be your maids, chefs, security guards, cleaners, construction workers, etc.
The ones who take your job are the westerners (the so-called expats) who are here to take away your office jobs.

The Goatherd and the Wild Goats

A Goatherd, driving his flock from their pasture at eventide, found some Wild Goats mingled among them, and shut them up in a cave together with his own for the night.

The next day it snowed very hard, so that the Goatherd could not take the herd to their usual feeding places, but was obliged to keep them inside the cave. He gave his own goats just enough food to keep them alive, but fed the wild goats more abundantly, hoping that by doing so, they would stay with him and join his herd.

When the snow thawed, the Goatherd led them all out to feed, and the Wild Goats scampered away as fast as they could to the mountains. The Goatherd scolded them for their ingratitude in leaving him, when during the storm he had taken more care of them than of his own herd.

One of the Wild Goats, turning about, said to him: “That is the very reason why we are so cautious; for if you yesterday treated us better than the Goats you have had so long, it is plain also that if others came after us, you would in the same manner prefer them to ourselves.”

Moral: Don’t sacrifice old friends for new ones.

a. we have to pay for their education if they r students
b. they bring down wages & bring up unemployment rate of locals
c. raise the cost of housing becos too many are brought in in a short period of time without enough forward thinking on accommodating them.
d. when they leave in droves if our economy falters, the risk of a huge rise in empty apts may increase risk of a huge fall in the property market.
In short, we are screwed when they come and we will be screwed if they leave

Chinese singaporeans suffer from a minority complex because they're always surrounded by malays and then point fingers at the malays and indians that we're suppose to have a minority complex.

This is great! At this rate that Singapore is going, there is bound to be a racial or nationality conflict within the next 5 years.

Let me watch from the sidelines...in China...after I give up my Sinkie PR.

Anon 21:55 - u are being racist. What's wrong with u? Still cant get along with your fellow Singaporeans after all these years. Beb, seems like you must upgrade yourself so you can live in a better neighbourhood. Minority complex? It's so passe lah

You better make sure you get evidence that Chinese Singaporeans do all these peeing in the lift. You idiot, else you are just bullshit.

My baseless hypothesis as what you assume is that dogs and pigs pee in our lift.

Chinese Singaporeans is majority. I think we have majority complex.

Veritas said...

And I think you are really a moron who do not understand how urine detection works. Please stop talking cock.

In SG lift, we have Urine Detection Device (UDD), the lift stops and and an alarm goes off. The authorities come in later and arrests the guy. There is no mention in whatever sources that a camera is install, YOU IDIOT.

Do not make yourself look like a goon by accusing the majority tribe of the cleanest city of the world as dirty. I believe you have not step out of house and go elsewhere.

You go places even as advance as capital Delhi, there are even cow shitting and man peeing on bright daylight in the CBD. hahahahahaaaaaaaa... I wish I am a gay so that I enjoy watching cock everyday in Delhi.

If kleptomaniacs could say they are ill when shoplifting and get away with stealing each time they got caught I should think that next time a shitter is caught shitting in the lift she could use compassionate grounds to get away too. Unless you are a communist or mean I think it shouldnt be a crime to do what comes naturally during emergencies. I am not talking about right or wrong the way you know it and it is not about race and gender either, I am saying that we all have more similar common traits than we are to admit becos it could blow our minds to know that. And I empathise with the foreigners alot at times. Some of the countries I have been to their drains are huge like the ones we used to have. For the lack of public toilets everyone were forced to pee in public all the time. The problem with our drains is that they are small and exposed, not well built; without bushes or trees you cant pee properly without doing it in someone's view. So, the lifts became the subsitute instead. haha. When you see someone or foreigner pee in the drain you may call them names. But coming from a small island, that may well be a parochial view. When you see 10 or 20 million people doing that, and it is a natural native way of daily life, you may change your mind after a while. In these countries, you would not be asking where the toilet is unless you are naive. That we need tolerance is obvious.

We also need to establish the reasons why Singaporeans is uncourteous. In UAE, the citizen went from barbaric Bedouins to the most civilize people within a generation. The most corrupt Sheikh, however bad he is still take care of people.

In UAE, you have free schooling to Uni, free healthcare, free house, government give you monies when you reach a certain age, garantee job in civil service...etc.

Today, you can hardly find fanatic Islamist violent in UAE (though their a few of their citizen join jihad kids overseas). The reason of so many social tension in our society is due to lack of development in social aspect.

It is purposefully design by PAP, to make us go against our brothers and neighbours. Remember PAP forever use the world "competition".

When Singaporeans develop in a positive way, PAP set us back by packing ever more foreigners here so that we get a better chance of pitting one against another.

PAP does not want a society like UAE. PAP wants to create hatred, to divide.

Based on the exchanges in your blog, do you get a sense that things are boiling over?

There may have been name calling in the past but give a few of your anonymous respondents a sword, I think there will be bloodshed.

Hope this is not the case in the social space out there.

Indeed a very well said article. So true about how we (citizens who are born here) who have been trusting our govt all those past years, to do the Right thing for us when in fact we had been "led" around in circles like we never had been good enough citizens. So betrayed and "sold out" by our govt for neglecting us in favour of foreigners.

Thank you for your articles....and speaking UP for us, the forgotten "lot" whom our forefathers slogged for our place on this land to be "invaded" by all these ARROGANT and RUDE foreigners.

do not lie to your own people said...

I do not think the old lady is rude. She merely said what she think instead of shouting and screaming like that PRC woman who is obviously a prostitute. I am very sad that a world class citizen has to be bullied by a third world citizen in her own country. The lying lee is to be blame for all this.

You can say whatever you guys want but I will still vote for PAP. Because the opposition camps are all disunited on different political ideologies.

Coming from you, it's hilarious. You are often antagonistic in your own blogs. And here you are preaching. This is what people call blindspot. Every time you condemn government. Not happy with singapore, just leave. As a Singaporean, I say ... get out of the country man. We don't shit heads like you who roar like a lion behind covers and locked out your blog when the shit hits the fan.

Majulah Singapura!

And this is maturity & progress?

What do you want to do next?
If people who hold different opinions don't leave Singapore?
Lock them up in prison?

So let's keep score on your progress;
People who don't agree with you should leave or be locked up.

What next?
Oh! You are now surrounded by yes men.
Oh! You now need new ideas and constructive feedback.
Oh! The existing population is too homogeneous in its stale old ideas.

Oh! I know! I know!
Let's introduce fresh new blood!

You just don't get it do you?
YOU are the problem.

More than twenty years ago, MOE rejected 2nd class upper graduates in mathematics/science from NUS just because they happen to come from the chinese stream and deem not to be adequate in the english language. However, now they are recruiting PRC graduates from Chinese universities to teach in our school. Most of these people cannot even speak nor write properly english compare to those local chinese stream graduates twenty years ago!!!! What a DISCRIMINATION and TURNAROUND!!!!

Anonymous said...

"What a DISCRIMINATION and TURNAROUND!!!! "

Are we dealing with an anti-Singaporean political party?

So what happens to all these new immigrants when they also become Singaporeans?

Veritas said...

Singapore is the only country whereby the government pretend to teach Chinese, but in actual fact, PAP is trying to destroy Chinese culture. You can never find a country whereby Chinese still sucks big time after 12 years of education and whereby Chinese is mother tongue.

While PAP give all sorts of excuse that Singaporeans are stupid and cannot handle 2 language, our Chinese cousin in Malaysia are able to excel in Chinese, despite that their hardware of teaching is not as good as us. PAP always give excuse that because Singaporeans are stupid, we must focus on English and destroy Chinese culture.

Our Chinese cousin in Malaysia are TRI-Lingual, perfectly fluent in Bahasa, Chinese and English. We must not underestimate the wretchness and perversion of PAP maggots. PAP and most Singapore elites are banana. They lick up Ang Moh, and try their very best to destroy the indigeneous culture. All these are under the cover of "Speak Mandarin Campaign"...etc.

Because they are spineless acultural idiots. They are full of inferiority complex of their lack of culture on one hand, and superiority complex that they are rich (due to robbing from us) on the other. They want everyone to be asshole of no values, mercenaries and shameless slut that sucks up Ang Moh.

Despite of PAP's rhetoric of Chinese culture, today Chinese language is on the verge of extinction. Thank you PAP.

I think the crux of the matter. The honest truth. The golden reality is...Singaporeans simply do not care.

As long as they can get more for themselves, that's all that matter. We call these folks...the 60%.

Even the 40% are trying to get their way by attacking the 60% who are not giving their what they could get.

Singaporeans simply don't care. This is Singapore. It is build on jealousy, envy and greed.

Singaporeans are not about graciousness. When you put Singaporeans in a rat race...at the end of 46 years, you get rats!

Observe Singaporeans carefully. The government has designed a system that feeds on the ugly side of human nature to work in the singaporean against other singaporeans. Even their civil service is full of ranking and appraisals.

Singaporeans can simply put a stop to all these machinations that has given rise to this life called The Stressful Singaporean Lifestyle.

They need to write more, speak up more, form their own or join opposition parties or volunteer support and put in more votes for the opposition.

Even if Singapore falls out of the PAP party, the civil service will continue to run. It has 50 years experience running the status quo. And a losing PAP will work harder and better for Singaporeans and will not simply give up. They'll return to contest even more keenly.

This is political maturation for the citizenry.

But you can't convince 60% rats. You can only persuade someone who values truth, logic and humanistic values.

Rats don't understand this.

The short answer is yes. It is maturity and progress because mature individuals leave and not stay in Singapore when they are short-changed as citizens. Progress takes place when you make the decision that this is not the crap you want to deal with for another 40 years of your life.

In another country, there will be shit to deal with. But it will be a different shit. It won't be a shi about having your life savings locked in CPF. It won't be about when you as a citizen don't get niversal healthcare and minimum wages and a singaporean first policy in employability.

That's progress and maturity.

BUt to stay and complain, rant and bitch about things has never been productive at all.

We are citizens of the world. Not just so-called Singaporean. Today, you are PRC, tomorrow you can be Indian. Today you are Indian national, tomorrow you can be Singaporean. This is a label created by the state.

Why do you buy into it so seriously?

Actually I find PRCs integrate pretty well with us. Not so sure about FTs from other countries. I heard stories about several condos in the East being dominated by FTs from a certain country.

Seriously the government should think about imposing an ethnic quota (similar to HDB flats) on private condos to prevent racial enclaves from forming, which as our history has shown, may cause social/racial problems.

Singapore is multi-racial & the last thing is to have ethnic enclaves form up in the suburbs...

I continued praying to the lord of heaven to send down my divine helper for me one day, because i have been scam 3times so i am scared, Until one day i decide to take bold step for the last time, so i came across one Mrs. Sandra Bent on yahoo answer who share a testimony about YOUNG LEE LOAN COMPANY grant him a loan of $15,000USD. Testimony on how i got my loan,

I'm a Singaporean base in the United State, I want to use this medium to alert all loan seekers to be very careful because there are scammed everywhere.

Few months ago I was financially strained, and due to my desperation I was scammed by several online lenders. I had almost lost hope until a friend of mine referred me to a very reliable lender called Mr. Lin Poh who lend me an unsecured business loan amount of US$200,000 under 24 hours without any stress, but I've to trust them and do what they required off me.

If you are in need of any kind of loan just contact him now via e-mail: (linpohloanfirm@yahoo.com.sg) I‘m using this medium to alert all loan seekers because of the hell I passed through in the hands of those fraudulent lenders. And I don’t wish even my enemy to pass through such hell that I passed through in the hands of those fraudulent online lenders.

I will also want you to help me pass this information to others who are also in need of a loan once you have also received your loan from Mr. Lin Poh, i pray that God should give him long life to help reliable people in needs,

Regards,

Wong Lee Young.
