Recent Strike Action : Through a kid's eyes...

It takes a kid to tell the emperor that he has no clothes. Even a child knows what 14 days notice for a strike is all about (watch the video to find the answer).

I actually see Jia-jia in person once every few weeks he is really a cheerful playful kid in real life.

This is really funny and accurate depiction of the wayang going on in the government.

Anonymous said...

We all know he is prompted by adults. Nevertheless, it is a different kind of wayang

This kind of brainwashing stuff you also post. Your standard has dropped indeed.

The root of smrt problem stemmed from getting an unqualified CEO Saw who then roped in unqualified senior management from her old company. The unqualified HR chief did not understand the importance of employee engagement and the problems snowballed from there. I like to tell the foreign spouses of our important leaders not to influence the recruitment process so we do not get major problems in our core organizations later on. Hire one wrong person based on personal feelings and it can snowball into a national disaster.

They probably have to make all foreign workers sign an agreement of pre- determined wages before employing them here.that way, no ground to protest.

Benefits of voting Pro Alien Party:

a.Affordable HDB flats? No?
b.2 years of National Slavery? Yes?
c.An MRT system run by an experienced management team that delivers a punctual service? No?

Anonymous said...

The whole board of directors at SMRT must be removed. I wonder how they got in and why each of them hold so many directorships in other companies. The CPIB must investigate all of them.

Anonymous said...

smrt is lucky it is only a strike. it could be worse if they destroy the buses or cause other damage.

Anonymous said...

Not cute. Workers going on strike and you guys seems to be so happy blaming SMRT or garmen. Its getting boring. Perhaps for once be on garmen's side? Surely SMRT has served us well over the years? Its very easy to find fault all the time. Maybe perhaps for once see from the other side? What makes you think the PRC workers deserve as much pay as Malaysians or Singaporeans? DO you pay a Harvard grad same wage as poly grad for the same job?

Anonymous said...

What happen if the bus driver want to commit suicide?

Many people may die together with him.

Scary hoh?

Anonymous said...

@19.29
DO you pay a Harvard grad same wage as poly grad for the same job?

Why not, if both are toilet captains.

Actually hoh, you look at the MPs hoh, some with Harvard, some no have, all got same MP pay. Ya? You better ask your boss to pay them different.

Anonymous said...

If the Harvard graduate does the same job as the poly graduate, he deserves the same pay.
Why must the Harvard graduate be paid more?

And using the cited comparison for bus driving vocation?

Must be comment from a vocational institute graduate.

This boy is adorable. Besides prosecuting the workers who are on strike, the top management and directors salaries should be cut half to reflect that they did not perform a job up to standard and have failed to discharge their duties accordingly and thus putting the general public who are taking public transport at risk. Ex CEO Saw salary or stock options should also be crawled back.

You seriously think Jiajia didn't read from a script over numerous edits.

Your knowledge of psychological warfare and social engineering devices is very low.

Have Singaporeans lost their critical thinking skills? Everything government's fault. The PRC workers who go on strike are angels?

I think one important signal drown out by the noises of poor living condition, ignorance of local laws, incompetant management, unfair wage structure etc. is that the cost of foreign mampower is going up, and at a much faster speed than what Singapore Inc has in mind. Think, if one of the better and stronger companies in Singapore is paying its foreign manpower so low that it enrages them to go on strike, what chance do your typical SMEs, usually underfunded, technologically backward, uninnovative and traditionally heavily reliant on cheap labor to eck out profit have, over the next ten years? Calls to let the foreign manpower tap flow again should be mulled over carefully, as this strike incident, to me, is a clear signal that the benefits offerred by taking this old path will be dissapearIng very soon, much sooner than we like

Anonymous said...

Dun blame gahmen, then blame who?
Blame Singaporeans again ah?

Everybody vote PAP.

So yes, we can blame Singaporeans for our current problems.

Dear Lucky, can we have heard many straw man arguments such as raising the wages of low wage workers will lead to rising cost, voting more opposition may lead to deadlock in parliament, opposition is not capable to form a government, without foreigners there would be no growth, without growth there would be no jobs, etc. Many Singaporeans cannot think beyond what they see. Is there anyway you can help convince these people, pointing out what is wrong with those arguments. I find it very difficult to persuade some of my friends to vote opposition, any way you can help? Some good arguments to counter many of these fallacious points will be nice. Hope you can help. Thanks.

Does SMRT even pay bus driver based on skills & training? If PRC drivers are not qualified, why hire them at all? Perhaps the next time you board the bus or hire a taxi, give tips to the driver you believe is more qualified!

Anonymous said...

To those who think the government did no wrong, and the prc drivers were troublemakers, you must first of all recognize that, to strike, or lock out, or sit out, is the fundamental and basic rights for every employee.

No restriction or law should be put in place to curb it.

Vote opposition no use, if they cannot become government, or cannot even deny PAP its 2/3 majority in Parliament.

We have 6 opposition MPs now.

Ask yourself. Has the laws and policies make your life or livelihood become better?

Have you become less poor or richer than before?

Anonymous said...

Opposition cannot become government because they are not united and also don't have the quantity and the quality of people who want to join them and contest elections to fight PAP.

But there is quantity and quality in terms of bloggers and commenters who fight PAP on the Internet but of course no use lah.

PRC are also humans, just like all humans, we all deserve dignity. Putting 10 of your own staff in a small room is like treating them as machines. Try to stay in one if you think this is human enough.

Anonymous said...

Just look at how PAP treating your elderly folks - made them worked as toilet cleaners, collect paper to sell, foodcourt cleaners etc - while collecting obscene amount monies from CEO, COV, GST on necessary stuff like medicine and food. They would have easily provide a decent persion for these old folks to live their last days in a dignified way rather than like dogs. Hope sin people can wake up. We should all stop voting people who do not know how to treat people properly and respectfully.

Anonymous said...

Why should Sinkies support SMRT?
Has SMRT ever supported Singaporeans?

Singaporeans support SMRT with $1.1 billion bailout with taxpayers money.
SMRT continue to refuse to give subsidized fares to Poly students.

fair or not? you decide.

No choice what, unless those PRCs don't want to come here to work lah.

Or unless there is a better alternative than PAP for majority 60% to vote as govt lah.

I think person above anon 2216 does not get it. The parliament can be made up of as many parties as people wanted. Putting one party in charge of everything is putting all the eggs in one basket. The risk is there for us to see. They can put in unjust law into constitution.

Anonymous said...

What many alternative parties want to see is not to kick PAP out but to lessen the power and risk of one party rule. Most first world countries have two or more parties in the parliament. Diverse group of interests are represented one way or the other. Propagandas are quickly challenged and policies that will put well being at risk are quickly dropped.

Anonymous said...

The fact of the matter is the opposition are not interested in taking over leadership of the government and lead this nation. They just want to $15 000 per month.

Frankly would throwing the PAP out of government/as the ruling party and voting in any of the current opposition make any difference?

Look at Australia and US when there is two party political system. Yes the country still functions, but the political system is probably just quite as screwed up as any country and like Singapore. Read the comments being left of the local news websites.

I'm not defending the PAP's pro-foreigner, we need to be the cheapest policy. Heck, screw meritocracy as well. This is not about just voting opposition figures to scrutinize every policy. It would be useless as it would be business as usual for Singapore. Do you think there will be better human rights or more benevolent policies towards the citizens? You want more social benefits? Who's going to pay for them? So increase taxes. And then we complain.

Point is, it is time to remodel the Singapore economy. The cheaper route doesn't work longer and the sooner PAP recognizes that, and try rely on automation to increase productivity and rely less on labor. There's always cheaper labor out there who probably can do as much or even more than Singaporeans.

Frankly, Singapore is nothing. We have absolutely nothing and we can be made redundant in an instant that I doubt any neighboring country would want to swallow us. And that's a fact. So stop this sense of entitlement.

Personally it doesn't matter who is in government, because if we the citizens don't change our attitudes, companies don't change their attitude for wanting money and profits, nothing will change.

Let me challenge you. How many of you out there can say: "I don't mind the cost of living goes up (from food, transportation, basic necessities) as long it corresponds with my wage increase."

Or do you want. "I want my wage increase but I don't want my cost of living to go up."

So it goes back to greed. Because we always want more don't we?

How many businessmen here can say that they are willing to sacrifice the chance to more make money than to pay their workers a fairer wage? After all, businesses exist to make profits, right?

I'm not trying to make myself noble here. I'm not a businessman. I'm just a struggling middle class who wants more money of course.

Peace out.

Anonymous said...

You are not smart. That's why you are struggling.

In fact smart people can be better alternative to PAP but what for?

Be smart and you can make more money for all the money you want.

They could not care less about Singaporeans.

Even if there was $100 trillion dollars cash in the Singapore Reserves, nothing will change.

Stop depending on PAP to provide the leadership needed for the changes we need to make.

Think Apple and Steve Jobs.

It's a one-trick pony.
A vision of one man who perhaps may not be capable of building an enduring legacy.

Contrast with Nelson Mandela.

Dear All:

Please do allow me to remind those shopping at NTUC Fairprice to check the bottled and canned foods expiry date.

Me bought two bottles of Taiwan made Tea Shop Brand Herbal Drinks on 06 December 12.
Wanted to drink it in the evening, however before me open it, read the eye catching expiry date printed on the seal. It was stated Expiry: 2013. 10. 11 which is nearly a month ago.

The Expiry Date printed though clear is very fine and the manufacturer nust be applauded for having it printed on the seal. Had it been printed elsewhere, me ay not have checked them as the two bottles appeared clean and fresh.

Do spend time to check the products when buying them, including those in NTUC Fairprice Outlets.
