I actually had a lot I wanted to write about this week but was unable to do so due to some very difficult circumstances.
The PE by-election results will give us a clear picture of the sentiment at the ground and how the post-2011 GE policies are received. I did have discussion with an opposition volunteer who has been involved in the campaigning and the unexpected sentiment on the ground might have led to that last minute all out push by the PAP top brass ...with PM Lee giving a one hour speech at the last PAP rally. So we may get a result few people think was likely at the start of this 4 corner contest.
We will know tomorrow and the results will set the tone for GE2016.

Yup I was wondering why so many top brass went down to support the PAP candidate. Maybe the ground opinion was not so sweet after all.

I believe some people are more comfortable voting for opposition even though they do want any party except PAP to govern the county. In a GE, these people will vote for PAP. But in a BE, their votes are less certain.
PAP has shown that they have extremely good handle on vote count in the last GE. The fact that they are panicking now tell you a lot.
I am predicting PAP to receive fewer than half the votes although they still have a good shot at winning the seat. Regardless, a under-50 performance is seriously BAD for PAP. They are continuing to lose the young voters and the trend is not looking good for 2016 and beyond.
I have left the country some time back for the sake of a job and other reasons, and I believe that this by-election is not necessarily as sure as the PAP assumes it will be. During the PE, the mainstream media declared the incumbent president's decision and belief that he has won right from the start, maybe to adopt a reverse psychological tactic of priming people to vote for him out of fear or reverence for the status quo. Things have been changing after GE 2011, but considering the basic fact that it is a 4-cornered fight, I don't even think there will be anything unpredictable, and sadly so. The true battle will be GE 2016. If the same trend in 2011 with a majority vote for the incumbent continues then, we can be sure that by 2021, Singapore will be screwed and might even fall in the end to its own leaders.

I also hope to see joining an opposition party (but not RP or SDA) and contest in Election, to me, none of the MPs or even ministers can hold a candle to you.

Don't a fucking retard. PAP will be returned to power because many Singaporeans have still not awokened yet. Apathy is still rife in Singapore. And many new citizens get flats in Punggol and Seng Kang. There is no doubt on this except for something whose perspectives are based - such as yourself- on being a hopeful keyboard warrior. Wake up, dude! PAP is a huge entity and they have tentacles almost on every sphere in Singapore. Be a little intelligent. In 2011, there were 3 -corner fights; now there are 4-corner fights. How many Singaporeans do you think are that intelligent to know what is the best way to cast their votes? There is a reason why LKY called Singaporeans daft. Because they are. Don't waste your time to check the results. I swear upon my mother's soul, PAP will win. You can't undo a 47 years of social conditioning over one pathetic by-election where a speaker of parliament inserts his dig in a woman's pussy. What Palmer did is immaterial. Simply because all the daft Punggol East female residents would have forgiven him. I reckon this PE by election was called in th elast minute because PAP couldn't find a candidate and there are more shit coming our way after the PE by-election that LHL wants to clear this immediately.

aiyoh, there are too many possibilities (e.g 10,000+ reasons) to pick in order to paint your answer.
now it is the silent majority or the vocal minority (the kpkb kind) who gave the win to WP ?. or now everyone is quite confused.
it seems like the 54% - 43% ratio can swing quite nicely to the opposite side to debunk whatever that is painted for the silent majority / vocal minority stereotype.
